Allegheny Mountain Radio, Route 220 'Cork Board to Town Crier' pipeline

Problem

Information doesn't flow. Events, opportunities, and services exist—but many people never hear about them. Traditional media has faded; online spaces are fragmented or hard to access.

Solution

Allegheny Mountain Radio (AMR) is a nonprofit community radio network owned by the Pocahontas Communications Cooperative Corporation (formed April 1979, headquartered in Dunmore, WV) whose Bath County station WCHG 107.1 FM broadcasts from Hot Springs, Virginia. In 2025 WCHG's station coordinator ran a six-month Community Information Ecosystem Assessment of the Route 220 corridor with a $20,000 Listening Post Collective grant (103 surveys, three listening sessions, documentation of physical bulletin boards). In March 2026 AMR announced a next 'seed phase' it would test: a 'Cork Board to Town Crier' pipeline that gathers time-sensitive postings from local bulletin boards, verifies them and airs them on its free Town Crier announcements, plus submission workshops and volunteer news sessions. No fetched source shows the pipeline operating.
